Members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars share a unique bond forged through service overseas. Whether you served in Korea, the Persian Gulf, Kosovo, the Global War on Terrorism, or another qualifying campaign or expedition, your service and sacrifice helped defend our nation and preserve freedom around the world.
If you meet the eligibility requirements below, we invite you to become part of our Post, continue the tradition of service, and join fellow veterans who understand the experiences and sacrifices that come with serving our country abroad.
VFW Membership Eligibility
To qualify for membership in the Veterans of Foreign Wars, you must meet both of the following requirements:
1. Honorable Service
You must have served in the Armed Forces of the United States and received an Honorable or General (Under Honorable Conditions) discharge, or currently be serving.
2. Qualifying Overseas or Hostile Service
Your service must include qualifying service in a war, campaign, or expedition on foreign soil or in hostile waters. Eligibility may be established through:

Receipt of an authorized campaign medal

Receipt of Hostile Fire Pay or Imminent Danger Pay

Service in Korea for 30 consecutive or 60 non-consecutive days
Eligibility information can generally be verified using your DD-214 or other official military records.
